Blubbb

The Finds of Aare Diver Dave
From May 10, 2025

Those who keep their heads underwater while swimming in the Aare hear the Alpine stones rolling. Nowhere else in the world is river swimming as integral to urban culture as in Bern. Here begins the story of David Godio, the passionate Bernese Aare diver. He retrieves from the river what falls into the water during swimming and 'Aareböötlen' – designer sunglasses, the latest smartphones, and other short-lived consumer goods.

The exhibition at Raum Biwak takes you on a dive. You’ll encounter stories of lost objects and surprising finds from the river, as well as the poetic collection of Dave’s discoveries. Blubbb is the refreshingly cool summer project by ALPS, guaranteed to offer a fresh perspective on the Aare.

Short introductions

At five locations along the Bernese Aare, "Blubbb" is present with an installation: at the Eichholz, near the Aarebar, at the Marzili, at the Altenbergsteg and at the Lorrainebad. On site, you can try on sunglasses from the Aare – and access the digital extension of the exhibition.

What lies at the bottom of the Aare?
